Meghan Markle celebrated her 44th birthday with a feast fit for a queen — or, in her case, a duchess.
On Tuesday, August 6, the Duchess of Sussex shared a rare glimpse into her personal life by sharing a photo blowing out the candles on an elegantly rustic birthday cake decorated with flowers. The dessert, she explained, was the finishing touch of one of the best dinners she’s ever eaten.
“Blowing out the candles on a beautiful 24 hours, and thanking my husband, friends and family for making it so special,” Meghan wrote, referring to husband Prince Harry, with whom she shares son Archie, 6, and daughter Lilibet, 4.
“To those of you I don’t know, but who send love every day – thank you so much. Please know I feel it and appreciate it ❤️,” she continued, explaining how she celebrated her special day.
“And just to get a little foodie on you….this dinner last night at @funke_la with the culinary mastery of @evanfunke and his team is in the top five meals of my life,” Meghan gushed, referring to Chef Evan Funke and his eponymous Beverly Hills restaurant. “Extraordinary 🍝 Thank you for a standout dining experience.”

In addition to her own post, plenty of Meghan’s famous friends paid tribute to her on their own Instagram accounts on Sunday, August 4, the actress’ actual birthday. One standout shout-out was from Abigail Spencer, Meghan’s former Suits co-star, who credited the duchess with “saving” her life.
“As glorious as the day I met you. Champagne in human form. A creature unlike any other,” Spencer — who shares the same birthday — gushed over Meghan in the caption of her post.
“Thank you for being a sister in this life, and beyond. Words can’t capture. From the rooftops,” she continued. “So grateful for your life, @meghan ✨. Thanks for saving mine. Love, Abs. 44/4. 8/4/81 👯♀️.”
