Meliá Hotels International has signed a franchise agreement with SoGes Group for a The Meliá Collection hotel in Lerici, on Italy’s Gulf of Poets. The property will be the company’s first hotel in the Ligurian Riviera and its 18th hotel in Italy.
The five-star hotel is planned to include between 80 and 90 rooms and suites, a culinary offering, a 400-square-metre wellness and fitness area, meeting and event spaces, and an outdoor swimming pool.
The property is planned on a hillside near the Ligurian coast. Its terraced architecture is designed to follow the natural contours of the site, with landscaped gardens, panoramic terraces and open-air spaces facing the Gulf of Poets. Plans include green roofs, native vegetation and a contemporary design based on the local environment.
Lerici is a coastal town in Liguria, a few kilometres from La Spezia, the region’s main transport hub. The town includes Lerici Castle, a waterfront and marina. Baia Blu, Cinque Terre and Porto Venere are nearby coastal destinations.
