Miley Cyrus Reveals the Real Reason Why She’ll Probably Never Tour Again

15 July 20253 Mins Read

Despite dropping a new album this spring, Miley Cyrus has no plans to hit the road.

On Good Morning America Tuesday, July 15, the 32-year-old Flowers singer got candid about why her touring days are likely behind her—for good.

“I do have the physical ability, and I have the opportunities to tour,” she said. “I wish I had the desire, but I don’t. I also don’t think that there’s an infrastructure that supports artists.”

Cyrus, who hasn’t done a full-fledged tour since her 2014 Bangerz run, explained that staying sober is a major priority in her life and touring doesn’t exactly support that. “It’s really hard to maintain sobriety when you’re on the road, which is a really important kind of pillar of stability in my life,” she said. “None of this that I create would ever be possible without the way that I think about things.”

The Hannah Montana icon added that the mental side of it is just as tough. “You have so many thousands of people screaming at you, so [there ’s] dopamine, you’re feeling a lot of love, and then you totally crash at the end of the show,” she said. “You start thinking that one person loving you is not enough. It needs to be 10,000, it needs to be 80,000.”

Cyrus made it clear this isn’t about fear, but about priorities. “I like to do things I’m afraid of,” she said, noting that she’s “jumped out of airplanes” and “performed for over 150,000 people.” Most recently, the former Disney star took the stage with Beyoncé in Paris to perform their duet “II Most Wanted.”

“When you’re standing behind [Beyoncé], you can actually feel her desire and her passion,” Cyrus said. “That to me is a win. It’s not a trophy. It’s not something physical that you hold or put on a shelf. But it’s something that I have that’s a true win.”

After the GMA segment aired, it didn’t take long for fans to weigh in online.

“At least she is honest about not wanting to tour while some artists just show up uninterested for the sake of money,” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“I support Miley in this decision,” another said.

“I really did miss my chance to see her live when she did that attention tour… i had nooooo idea about it literally idk why or how not…. so it breaks my heart that she probably never will again,” chimed in a third.

“Touring sounds exhausting… too much pressure,” someone else pointed out.

Cyrus’ latest album, Something Beautiful, was released in May.
