Minor Hotels has announced plans to expand into Egypt through a new agreement with Soma Bay Hotel Company SAE. The two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a hotel under Minor Hotels’ luxury Anantara brand. The first project under this partnership will be announced later this year.
The proposed resort will be in Soma Bay, a popular coastal resort on the Red Sea in Egypt. Situated 45 kilometers south of Hurghada International Airport, the 2,500-acre community offers a variety of leisure activities, including windsurfing, diving, and sailing. The resort also features one of the region’s largest naturally occurring spas and thalassotherapy offerings, where guests can enjoy seawater-based treatments.
The Soma Bay Hotel Company, an Egypt-based hospitality business, owns several luxury properties along the Red Sea. The collaboration with Minor Hotels marks the company’s commitment to long-term investments that create value and drive growth in the region.
The expansion into Egypt represents a significant addition to Minor Hotels’ portfolio. The hospitality group manages over 560 hotels across 58 countries in Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, the Indian Ocean, Europe, and the Americas.
Details about the new Anantara resort and branded residence complex in Soma Bay will be announced in the coming months.
