Across Europe, a long list of countries are already offering digital nomad visas, but one lesser-known, often overlooked spot in the east of the continent has just joined the bandwagon.
The country in question? It’s Moldova. The nation, which sits between Romania and Ukraine, is one of the least visited in Europe, but is well worth venturing to if you’re interested in Soviet-era history, or are a lover of wine (the Moldovan Mileștii Mici has one of the largest wine collections in the world).
Moldova launches two-year digital nomad visa
Moldova has just announced a brand-new offering of residency permits to remote workers. Those who acquire one will be able to live in the country for up to two years (with the potential to extend later on to up to five years), and compared to other European nomad visas, the income requirements are pretty low at just US$1,500-2,000 per month (that’s approximately €1,290-1,700).

How to apply
Foreign nationals working remotely for overseas employers or clients are eligible to apply – that includes business owners, employees and freelancers. If you’re successful, you’ll receive a temporary residence and work permit, but you’ll also need to register locally with migration police, where you might be granted an identity card.
How do you apply? That part isn’t set in stone just yet, but according to Globetrender, it’s likely that the process will be through the Bureau of Migration and Asylum.
Either online (though a website is still in the works) or in person, you’ll need to provide a valid passport, four recent passport-style photographs, employment contracts and proof of accommodation, and it’s thought that processing fees will be between €40-80.
