Montreal Grand Prix 2025 weather: Will rain affect race weekend again?

9 June 20252 Mins Read

If you’re planning to hit up the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend — or just soak in the city’s wild race weekend energy — the weather might finally be on your side.

While Montreal is starting the week off on a wet note, with rain expected Monday and Tuesday, the skies are forecast to clear by midweek. And just in time as the weekend is shaping up to be (mostly) dry, sunny, and mild across the board.

According to the latest forecast from Environment Canada, Friday (June 13) should bring sunshine and a high of 21°C for the first practice session.

Saturday is expected to be a mix of sun and cloud with a high around 20°C, and only a small chance of showers overnight. While that could affect the city’s nightlife scene, folks at the track should be in the clear.

Sunday — race day — looks even better, with a high of 24°C and more sun in the mix.

That’s a sharp contrast from last year, when a rain-soaked track at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve caused chaos right out of the gate. The 2024 Grand Prix saw two drivers collide on the opening lap, prompting a safety car and kicking off a wet and wild race that kept teams scrambling.

This year’s calmer, clearer weather should make for a much smoother ride — whether you’re in the stands, at a terrasse, or just following the action from one of Montreal’s many Grand Prix parties. Winds are expected to be light, the UV index will be high, and there are no major alerts in effect for the city.

So yes, make sure to pack sunscreen and shades instead of umbrellas, and get ready for a proper summer weekend.
