Montreal traffic is about to get messy with multiple road closures coming this weekend

15 August 20252 Mins Read

If you’re hitting the road around Montreal this weekend, be ready for detours and delays. Several major routes will be closed for work, with Quebec’s Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable recommending drivers plan ahead and give themselves extra time.

Here are some areas you’ll want to avoid getting caught in:

A-25 South closure
In Montreal, the A-25 South will be fully closed between Exit 5 (Sherbrooke Street) and the Souligny Avenue access from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Drivers will be detoured via De Boucherville Street, Hochelaga Street, Dickson Street South, and Souligny Avenue East.

Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge / A-40
The Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge will be shut down in both directions between Vaudreuil-Dorion and Senneville from 11:59 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Sunday. Eastbound drivers can detour via A-30 East, Exit 5 to A-20 East, and Exit 39 to Boulevard des Anciens-Combattants. Westbound, use Exit 41 to Boulevard des Anciens-Combattants South, A-20 West, and Exit 29 to A-30 West. Tolls will be suspended in both directions on the A-30/Serge-Marcil Bridge.

Côte-de-Liesse
From 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Côte-de-Liesse will be closed in both directions between Côte-de-Liesse West and Dion Street, affecting Saint-Laurent and the Town of Mount Royal. Multiple local detours will be in place, and lane reductions are expected in the area.

Saint-Jacques Street
Saint-Jacques eastbound will be shut between Des Seigneurs Street and Guy Street from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Detours will run via Des Seigneurs, Notre-Dame, Guy, and Saint-Jacques.

Other ongoing closures

  • The REM remains closed until Sunday for system work.
  • The LASSO festival runs Saturday and Sunday at Parc Jean-Drapeau. With limited parking and possible traffic on the Jacques-Cartier Bridge, transit is strongly recommended.
  • Various access ramps on the Bonaventure Expressway (A-10) and Île-des-Sœurs remain closed until September.
