Montreal’s Royalmount is officially open — Here’s how to access the luxury shopping complex, Life in canada

4 July 20254 Mins Read

Royalmount — Montreal’s new 824,000-square-foot “luxury” shopping mall — officially opened its doors on September 5, bringing a slew of high-end stores, restaurants, green spaces, and art installations to the city.

Spearheaded by real estate development and management company Carbonleo, the $7 billion Royalmount mega-mall complex houses a total of 170+ stores (50% of which are brand new to Quebec or stores with never-seen-before concepts) and 60+ cafés and restaurants. It’s eventually expected to include a VIP movie house, REC room, arts and entertainment events and much more.

For those wondering which stores and brands are available at the new Royalmount mall, you can read all about it here.

With so much excitement surrounding the opening, many might be wondering just how they can access the new mall. Turns out, you can get to Royalmount in a few different ways.

By metro (and public transit)

For those who are looking for an easy and environmentally friendly way to access the Royalmount mega-mall, you can opt to take the metro.

The 200-metre enclosed skybridge, which connects De La Savane metro station with the Royalmount mall, passes directly over the Décarie Expressway, and is equipped with stairs and escalators, making it an easy trip for those travelling with baby strollers or bikes.

“This important extension of Montreal’s infrastructure will help facilitate travel to Royalmount and between neighbourhoods while encouraging sustainable and active mobility in our amazing city,” Carbonleo said.

While this makes things easier for day-to-day visits, De La Savane station is not equipped with an elevator and is not on the list of metro stations expected to undergo construction to integrate elevators. Therefore, the metro-skybridge connection is not 100% wheelchair accessible.

MTL Blog has reached out to both the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) and Carbonleo to inquire if an elevator will be constructed to allow wheelchair users to access the skybridge directly from De La Savane station. We will update the article when we receive a response.

If you’re taking the bus, lines 17, 100, 409 and 460 are the best routes.

By bicycle

The Royamount mega-mall is also accessible by bicycle. Whether you live in the area or are taking a bike via the metro, the skybridge allows easy navigation for bike users. Once at Royalmount, cyclists can opt to leave their bikes in one of the 500 bike parking spaces.

Furthermore, the mall is connected to the city’s bike path network, connecting Montrealers to the new luxury mall more easily.

By car

Royalmount has thousands of parking spaces — allowing those who live farther away or cannot reach the mall via the metro or Montreal’s bike network to access the mall seamlessly.

Shoppers can access the mall with a car via avenue Royalmount and chemin de la Côte-de-Liesse with additional parking areas located around chemin Royden and boulevard Décarie.

Despite the parking areas, many are worried that the Royalmount mall could lead to more congestion around the Décarie Interchange. A Reddit thread found in the r/montreal forum touches on a few of these concerns, with users pointing out how the area is already a traffic hotspot.

Nevertheless, Carbonleo has moved forward with additional “road improvements” to promote “active mobility and improve traffic flow.”

Keep in mind that you do have to pay to park your car at Royalmount for more than 30 minutes. These are the rates:

  • Up to 30 minutes: Free
  • Thirty minutes to one hour: $2.50
  • Each additional 30 minutes: +$2.50
  • Twelve-hour maximum: $25
  • Twenty-four-hour maximum: $60

There’s also a valet service available at an additional cost.

On foot

Carbonleo has promised that the site is 100% walkable from end to end, allowing shoppers and visitors alike to get around easily. Not to mention that all services available are within a “maximum 15-minute walk.”

If all else fails, and you want to plug Royalmount into your GPS, the official address is 5401, av. Royalmount.
