Go-to chains like Costco and Walmart tend to be favorites because they have shoppers covered on must-have’s all throughout the house. And, since each is full of bargain prices, they’re a game-changer for grabbing the most expensive home essentials like kitchen appliances for less.
With any appliance though, there’s always the chance that unexpected issues can pop up. And, according to a newly announced recall by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the latest of those snags affects close to to 1.3 million countertop ovens.
Sold by some of the most major chains around like Costco and Walmart, these ovens pose burn hazards. So, before heating anything up or toasting your next breakfast, you’ll want to pause and double check your countertop oven.

Sunbeam Products Inc. is recalling around 1,290,000 (plus, over 104,000 sold in Canada) of its Oster French Door Countertop Ovens. These ovens pose burn hazards because of an issue with its spring-loaded glass bilateral doors. More specifically, there’s been 95 reports of the oven doors closing unexpectedly which has led to burn injuries. Two of those incidents involved second-degree burns.
Each of these countertop ovens with the brand name “Oster” on the bottom right were sold by major chains like Bed Bath and Beyond, Costco, Walmart and more across the country. Additionally, they were sold online on Amazon and Overstock’s websites. All of these ovens would have been purchased anytime between August 2015 to July 2025 for a range of $140 to $250.
If you suspect you have an impacted countertop oven, you can identify if yours is part of this recall by checking its model number which is found on a label located on the back of each oven. The following model numbers are included in this recall: TSSTTVFDXL, TSSTTVFDDG, TSSTTVFDMAF and TSSTTVFDDAF.
