After teasing the song and playing it at recent shows, Morgan Wallen has at last dropped a new single for fans to enjoy at home.
“Been By Now” marks a new chapter for the 33-year-old singer, Country Now reports, as he prepares to wrap up his 23-stadium Still The Problem Tour. There are just two weekends and four shows left across Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Philadelphia.
The headline-making Grammy nominee, who has also been mired in controversy over the years, has continued to churn out country hits so catchy they often bleed into the pop music scene. So, when he had announced the above-mentioned single, fans were simply counting the days until it dropped on streaming platforms and more.
On Friday, July 24, an audio-only YouTube upload became available, and it’s only a matter of time until a music video comes to fruition, we’re guessing. In the meantime, take a listen below.
Fans have since flooded the post’s comments section to show their appreciation for the new track, whose lyrics tell the story of a failing relationship. “Sweet heartache song. Just lost a long time love. He captured the feeling,” wrote one YouTube user, while another person commented, “Did you write this for me?…feels like he looked right into my life and BAM A HIT was made! ❤”
A Rare Place in Billboard History
Meanwhile, Wallen reached another major career milestone as another song of his, “Don’t We,” rose to No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart dated Aug. 1. The single gives the country star his 21st chart-topper on the Billboard Country Airplay chart and his 22nd overall No. 1 at country radio.
The song moved up one spot to the top of the Country Airplay chart after earning 33.6 million audience impressions, a 5% increase, during the July 17-23 tracking period, according to Billboard. The extra overall count includes his featured credit on Thomas Rhett’s “Mamaw’s House,” which also reached No. 1 at country radio.
