Movie Monday: ‘Zootopia 2’ Slithers Back to the Top of the Box Office, Best TV Shows to Binge Watch

15 December 20252 Mins Read

Here’s the thing about snakes: They tend to bite when stepped on.

When Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 tromped over Zootopia 2 last Movie Monday, it found that out the hard way—and it was not long before the bear came crashing down.

That’s how Zootopia 2 reclaimed its box office supremacy from Mr. Fazbear this weekend, slithering into American pockets to feast on another $26.3 million. So far, that brings its domestic total to $259 million. Its worldwide earnings? Those hopped over one billion this weekend—$1.14 billion, in fact. That makes it 2025’s third film to do so, after Ne Zha 2 and Lilo & Stitch.

Despite that snake bite dropping Five Night at Freddy’s 2 by 70% from last weekend, the movienevertheless held itself in second place. It scared up $19.5 million, raising its domestic earnings to $95.5 million. Worldwide, it celebrates a $173.8 million cume.

Wicked: For Good flew stable this weekend, keeping its spot in third. It added $8.6 million to its emerald vaults, bumping its American earnings to $312.1 million and its worldwide total to $468 million.

Fourth place goes to a film that came as a bit of a surprise to us—so surprising that we don’t actually have a review of it: Dhurandhar. When it first released last week, the Indian film found itself in ninth place, so its five-spot rise is certainly impressive. This week, the movie brought in $3.5 million—a 77% increase from its premiere earnings. Worldwide, it sits at $8.8 million.

Rounding out the top five, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t refused to disappear, remaining in fifth place by generating $2.4 million out of thin air. That raises its domestic cume to $59.4 million and its worldwide gains to $213.3 million.

Newcomer Ella McCay opened to seventh place with $2.1 million. That narrowly edges out the 2025 re-release of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, which likewise stole $1.9 million from audiences. (Which puts the movie in eighth place.)

Christmas slasher Silent Night, Deadly Night may as well have added “silent theaters” to its name, since very few people went to see it. The movie took 12th with $1.1 million. And Dust Bunny found itself with nothing but dust to its name; it took 17th with $339,700.
