MUG Root Beer's 'Coolest' Limited-Edition Drop Is Here–And It's Definitely Not What Fans Are Expecting

3 September 20252 Mins Read

MUG Root Beer just announced what might be its trendiest innovation in its history.

The legendary soda brand sees the increased popularity of “quiet luxury” style and is raising a glass to it. Well, sort of. It’s launching its own unique mini tote that’s putting the f-u-n in functional fashion.

The standard for branded merch has been set pretty high this year thanks to Panera’s viral insulated croissant clutch, the Baskin-Robbins X Laneige Rainbow Sherbet Lip Sleeping Mask, and Taco Bell’s “time capsule” release from the early aughts, but 2025 isn’t over and MUG is prepared to raise the bar at least one more time with its Root Beer Float Tote.

Is the MUG Root Beer Float Tote Real?

Yes, it’s the real deal and it’s “dawg gon gud fashun,” according to the brand mascot, Dog.

Debuting today is a “first” for the PepsiCo soda, and while it may appear to be a super chic mini bronze tote on the outside, what’s hidden inside is a secret pouch fans can fill with MUG Root Beer and a hidden tab on the back of the bag for easy access to a root beer float (or swig of the soda) at a moments notice.

“Style, like flavor, is all about bold combinations,” MUG Root Beer’s vice president, Michael Smith, shared in a statement. “The MUG Root Beer Float Tote is designed with one thing in mind: making sure our die-hard MUG fans never have to be anywhere without their favorite treat. This is the bag they want to be left holding.”

How Much Does the Root Beer Float Tote Cost?

Now that we’ve established the bag is real, let’s go over how to snag it because, unlike the decades-old soda, nabbing it won’t be as easy as restocking the bubbly beverage.

Fans looking to style the MUG Root Beer Float Tote will need to be by a computer or smartphone when it drops on Monday, Sept. 8, as it will only be available to purchase as a $45 bundle (which includes the fashion-forward mini puff tote, a branded sparkly gold chain, and bottle of MUG Root Beer) via the company’s official TikTok Shop for as long as supplies last.
