Murals will transform Edmonton for one month and here’s how to see them

21 August 20253 Mins Read

This festival is celebrating all the spectacular public art within Edmonton, with local and international artists transforming the city into an artistic utopia!

The Edmonton Mural Festival is a month-long celebration of the stunning murals across the city. It focuses on fostering inclusion, connecting artists, and highlighting their talent. Behind the festival, the team’s goals are to elevate local Alberta arts and continue to create opportunities for individuals to get represented in the arts and beautify Edmonton in the process.

The festival offers guided food and mural tours, a map of all the murals across Edmonton for individuals to explore themselves, and a final wrap party in September to end off with a bang.

Through this, the festival aims to shed light on the murals which brighten up Edmonton streets, as well as the artists behind them.

What to expect

For those who aren’t so interested in being guided and would rather embark on their own journey, there is a mural map to follow.

You can check out murals like XOCHITL GARCIA by Xochitl Garcia or Time to Change by Seve Estevez. There are even murals created in partnership, like The Parks by David Camisa, which now beautifies the historic Knoxville tavern building

This mural map is on Google Maps, created by the festival for individuals to see all the murals across the Downtown, Old Strathcona, and 124 Street.

If wandering around doesn’t sound all that fun, that’s why the guided tours exist!

Coming up, there are guided tours for Old Strathcona and Downtown. The Old Strathcona tour is being held on Aug. 24, while the Downtown tour will be happening on Sept. 6.

These tours last two and a half hours, with host Linda Hoang. Through this, individuals are experiencing multiple mural stops, food stops, and live mural viewings. This provides an exclusive look at the festival, allowing individuals to get the full experience of colour and creativity behind these murals.

To conclude the festival, after all the tours, the festival will be hosting its Mural Fest Wrap Party.

On Sept. 13, the festival will be closing the season with a high-energy wrap party. At the Freemasons Hall in Downtown Edmonton, the festival will be featuring live performances, DJ sets, and art installations, not to mention a whisky tasting and a MINBID underground art auction. This late-night party is sure to end the festival with a bang.

This party only happens once a year, so don’t miss your chance to get wild. Not to mention, don’t miss your chance to experience the incredible live art installations being featured.

When: August through September
Where: Various locations
Cost: Mural tours start at $49.26, wrap party tickets start at $38.61
