The return of the offbeat series mixing crime drama and black comedy with Zen principles is one of the main events announced for Germany in 2026. It is slated for May.
After a debut on Halloween in October of 2024, Netflix Germany was quick to order some more adventures and misfortunes for Tom Schilling’s Björn Diemel. It was announced that the 8 new episodes of Murder Mindfully (Achstam Morden) will premiere globally on May 28th. Furthermore, a third season has been greenlit by Netflix, with an episode count to be announced later.
A logline for the sophomore season has been provided, where our hero has to make peace with his inner child to move forward in his life.
“Björn Diemel seems to have his life under control: he has internalized the principles of mindfulness, quit his stressful job as a criminal defense attorney, and started his own business. He spends more time with his daughter Emily, argues more mindfully with his soon-to-be ex-wife Katharina, and has added an unusual responsibility to his career: he is the legal representative of two mafia clans whose bosses he has mindfully made disappear from the scene. But despite this bizarrely harmonious balance, Björn is plagued by inner turmoil and a loss of control. Why can’t he enjoy all this?
The reason is his inner child! As his mindfulness coach Joschka Breitner explains, old wounds and unresolved conflicts from Björn’s childhood weigh on him more than he realized. While Björn tries to heal these wounds and make peace with his past, he also has to deal with annoying helicopter parents and police investigators, blackmail, and the usual challenges of life. Ultimately, Björn realizes that his inner work not only brings emotional clarity, but also has practical implications for his dark activities.”

Based on the best-selling books by Karsten Dusse, the Constantin Films-produced show will see its supporting cast return for the second season: Schilling and Emily Cox as Katharina Diemel will be joined again by Britta Hammelstein, Murathan Muslu, Peter Jordan, Bastian Reiber, Friederike Kempter, Franz Schmidt, Pamuk Pilavci, and Luca Maric. Doron Wisotzky is credited with the writing on the new episodes, directed by Monika Plura. Season 1 of Murder Mindfully did not exactly rock the charts, but as we analyzed back then, it spent six weeks in the German Top 10, showing great interest by local subscribers and paving the way for a renewal. The upcoming third season seems like a vote of confidence from Netflix, even though the show will now premiere in late Spring, as opposed to the Fall.
