Canada’s 158th birthday is quickly approaching, and that means you’ll want to start planning your long weekend holidays.
All across Ontario, cities and towns will be hosting extra special parties to celebrate the anniversary of Canadian Confederation — and here are the ones you’ll want to check out for guaranteed good times.
Niagara Falls
Celebrate the nation’s birth with live music, food vendors, family-friendly activities, and more in Niagara Falls! Firemen’s Park is the place to be for fun programming from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with performances at the Bandshell Stage taking place all day long.
To avoid traffic and congestion, take the free shuttles operated by Niagara Region Transit, which will be ushering party-goers to and from the park at Gale Centre, MacBain Community Centre, Club Italia, and City Hall.
For those classic Niagara Falls fireworks, get yourself down to the falls for a spectacular show starting at 10 p.m. Don’t forget that the falls will also glow in red and white colours every hour!
Mississauga
Visit Celebration Square in ‘Sauga City for family-friendly programming from 4 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. Party it up with live entertainment, 25+ food trucks, aerial shows, and extra special performances from Anjulie and Connor Price. Cap off the birthday celebration with a grand fireworks display over the square at 10 p.m.
Ottawa
The capital will be bumping on July 1 with a ton of programming, from noon to night! LeBreton Flats Park kicks off the celebration with a national noon ceremony and will keep the party going with special musical guests at its evening party.
Sarah McLachlan, Tom Cochrane, Amanda Marshall, and others will serenade the park’s crowd while the Tim Hortons Canada Day Fireworks show will light up the sky at 10 p.m.
Parliament Hill will also host a bevy of celebrations, including an extra-special 360 booth platform, a performance from The Royal Canadian Air Force Pipes & Drums, and an impressive aerial show from the Snowbirds.
Vaughan
Take it down to Canada’s Wonderland in Vaughan for some Canuck-themed celebrations this Canada Day. As one of the largest celebrations in the GTA you can expect live musical acts, yummy snacks, street performances, and a custom-designed firework display!
Set to an original soundtrack, this is your chance to find the perfect viewing spot for 10 p.m. and watch as the park comes alive in explosive colour.
Kingston
Springer Market Square & Confederation Park are the places to be in Kingston for Canada’s 158th birthday! Join the Great Canadian Stroll & Roll for a celebratory walk or ride down Princess Street at 10:30 a.m. and cap it off with cake with the Mayor at 11:30 a.m.
Confederation Park starts the party off with opening remarks and welcoming at noon and will host a Kids Zone (with a 24-foot rock wall) and live shows throughout the afternoon. For more fun, head out to Springer Market Square for a DJ dance party, the Caesar Co beer garden, and multiple food vendors (hello, Mio Gelato), and a fireworks show later in the evening.
Canada Day 2025
No matter where you celebrate, it’s all about making memories and recognizing our great country. So get out there and make the most of it — Happy Canada Day, everyone.
