ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Naval Academy in Annapolis is on lockdown after shots were reportedly fired on the campus Thursday afternoon.
Multiple sources inside the U.S. Naval Academy told FOX News that the lockdown happened after a midshipman who had been kicked out of the school returned to campus armed with a gun.

What we know:
Reports about the lockdown began to come in around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sources say gunshots were heard inside Bancroft Hall, which houses the midshipmen.
It’s also reported that the alleged shooter has been knocking on doors on the campus, pretending to be a military member.
In a statement, the U.S. Academy Public Affairs Office said, “Naval Support Activity Annapolis, in coordination with local law enforcement, is currently responding to reports of threats made to the Naval Academy. The base is on lockdown out of an abundance of caution. This is a developing situation and we will provide updates as they become available.”
