Netflix Adding Chuck Lorre Sitcom ‘Mom’ in the United States

Netflix is adding another sitcom! Today, the streamer has confirmed that multiple seasons of Mom, the CBS sitcom that ran from 2013 to 2021, will make its Netflix debut beginning July 1, 2025, in the United States.

Created by serial producer Chuck Lorre alongside patterns Eddie Gorodetsky and Gemma Baker, the series follows a dysfunctional mother and daughter duo in Napa, California who reconnect after being estranged for years and must help each other out on the road to sobriety after years of addiction.

Anna Faris and Allison Janney lead the cast alongside an ensemble that features Sadie Calvano, Nate Corddry, Matt Jones, French Stewart, and Spencer Daniels.

Although airing on CBS, the underlying rights to the show are owned by Warner Bros. Television who is licensing the series to Netflix for the first time.

It’s currently unclear whether the show will be departing Hulu, where it has streamed for many years now, and it’s also unclear how many seasons will be arriving on Netflix. However, it’s likely to be all eight, consisting of 170 episodes, although it’s possible that some later seasons may be excluded.

The news comes as Netflix US has ramped up its licensing of titles from other distributors in recent weeks. Netflix has struck a new deal with Disney for the return of the Shonda Rhimes series Scandal. We’re also set to see all four seasons of the hit NBC series Blindspot arrive on Netflix imminently, and we’ve also learned that Yellowjackets, rather than leaving Netflix later this year, will be getting its second season added from Paramount within the next month or so.

The timing of a Chuck Lorre sitcom being licensed to Netflix also makes sense given that at the end of July, the famed producer’s next Netflix Original project following the short-lived Disjointed starring Kathy Bates and The Kominsky Method starring Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin. We’re referring to Leanne, the new sitcom starring Leanne Morgan, which will launch with all 16 episodes.

The Big Bang Theory is still available to stream in select international territories, while its prequel, Young Sheldon, is available to stream globally on Netflix.

Keep an eye on our ‘Coming Soon’ section for the complete list of July 2025 releases as they become available.
