Netflix Adds Classic Catherine O’Hara Movies in Honor of Late Comedy Legend

Following the tragic news of comedy icon Catherine O’Hara’s passing earlier this week, Netflix US has quietly added five of her most celebrated films to the library. As fans look to revisit her incredible body of work, subscribers in two regions can now stream a collection of her best performances, ranging from Christopher Guest mockumentaries to a Martin Scorsese cult classic.

The entertainment world is still reeling from the loss of the Emmy-winning actress, who passed away on January 30th, 2026. While she was recently known to a new generation as Moira Rose in Schitt’s Creek (sadly, no longer on Netflix in most regions), her career spanned decades of movie and TV excellence.

Netflix has acquired the rights to five specific titles today, with each staying on Netflix for 2 months before leaving. All five titles are available to stream in the United States and Canada as of today, February 4th. These are in addition (in the US) to Best in Show, which was amongst the February 1st arrivals, and The Wild Robot, which remains on Netflix through March 24th, 2026.

All of these new additions come courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures, which, as you may know, Netflix is in the process of acquiring.

Here are the Catherine O’Hara movies you can now watch on Netflix:

Waiting for Guffman (1996)

Role: Sheila Albertson

Perhaps the quintessential Christopher Guest mockumentary, this film follows a group of aspiring actors in Blaine, Missouri, as they prepare for a community theater production. O’Hara shines as Sheila Albertson, the travel agent who—along with her husband Ron (Fred Willard)—brings a chaotic, misguided confidence to the stage. It is a masterclass in playing a character who has no idea how untalented they are.

A Mighty Wind (2003)

Role: Mickey Crabbe

Reuniting with Eugene Levy (her future Schitt’s Creek husband), O’Hara plays Mickey Crabbe, one half of the folk duo “Mitch & Mickey.” Unlike her broader comedic roles, this performance is surprisingly tender. The film tracks their awkward reunion for a memorial concert, and O’Hara brings a genuine sweetness and heartbreak to the role, proving she could handle drama just as deftly as comedy.

For Your Consideration (2006)

Role: Marilyn Hack

In this satire of Hollywood awards season, O’Hara delivers one of her most unhinged performances as Marilyn Hack, an aging actress who hears a rumor that her performance in a terrible indie drama might garner an Oscar nomination. Watching her descent into botox-filled desperation is both hilarious and painfully cringey.

After Hours (1985)

Role: Gail

Going back to the 80s, this Martin Scorsese black comedy features O’Hara in a memorable supporting role. She plays Gail, an ice cream truck driver who becomes one of the many bizarre obstacles the protagonist (Griffin Dunne) faces during his nightmarish evening in SoHo. It’s a great example of her ability to be funny and slightly menacing at the same time.

Home Fries (1998)

Role: Beatrice Lever

In this dark romantic comedy starring Drew Barrymore and Luke Wilson, O’Hara plays the matriarch Beatrice Lever. Far from a wholesome mother figure, her character is manipulative and deeply involved in the film’s twisted family dynamic. It’s a cult favorite that allows O’Hara to lean into a darker, villainous comedic persona.

Which of these Catherine O’Hara movies will you be watching first? Let us know in the comments as we remember a true comedy legend.
