As the end of the year approaches, a number of high-profile licensing deals are set to shuffle behind the scenes. As a result, Netflix is bracing for another wave of departures, affecting everything from cult comedies to beloved sci-fi dramas. The final days of 2025 and the first moments of 2026 will see a mix of short-stay curiosities, decade-long mainstays, and even a few rescued originals exiting the platform.
As a reminder, you can find all planned removals for January 2026 in the United States and the United Kingdom in our dedicated guides.
Please note: All removals from Netflix are subject to change due to licensing agreements. Netflix may extend licenses or remove titles earlier than listed. Removal dates may also vary by region.

The Royals (Seasons 1-4)
Only applies to Netflix in the United States

Picture: Bravo
One of two very short licensed titles on this list is The Royals, which returned to Netflix in the United States this June. Running for four seasons and 40 episodes on E!, this drama series adapted the book, following the conniving Queen Helena and her royal family, who have flipped the script on what you should expect from them. Produced by Lionsgate Television, the series is departing exactly 6 months after its addition.

Dare Me (Season 1)
Removal applies to Netflix globally

Picture: NBC Universal
Rewind to 2019, and USA Network premiered its new teen sports thriller series Dare Me, which Netflix promptly picked up globally as a Netflix Original exclusive and, in the United States, as a licensed title, soon after it premiered. Sadly, the show never received a second-season order, much to the disappointment of fans who acquired it after its initial airing.
The official synopsis of the 10-episode first season, starring Willa Fitzgerald and Herizen Guardiola, reads: “Relationships topple, and loyalties flip when an icy new cheerleading coach takes over the high school squad ruled by Beth and her devoted BFF, Addy.”
Also, just a quick note: if you’re planning to watch this on Netflix’s ad tier, you’ll be disappointed. It’s one of the few shows on Netflix that’s still currently blocked on the advertising tier.

Still Game (Seasons 1-9)
Removal applies to Netflix globally

Picture: BBC
Over the past decade, most of the licensed shows that Netflix carried from the BBC have slowly disappeared from the streamer in favor of streaming on more British-focused services in the US. One of the few exceptions has been Still Game, a Scottish comedy series that follows Jack and Victor, pensioners who, as they make the most of their golden years, get themselves into all kinds of scrapes in their Glasgow suburb. Now, over a decade after it was first added to Netflix, all seasons are scheduled to leave Netflix in the US and everywhere else, too.

School Spirits (Season 1)
Only applies to Netflix in the United States

Picture: Paramount+
School Spirits marked the first time a major Paramount+ Original series had been licensed to Netflix in the United States and has already had a removal scare from the streamer earlier this year. That thankfully didn’t come to pass, though, but its time on Netflix is potentially coming up again with the show now scheduled to be removed as we move into 2026. That removal comes a little bit before the series is due to return for its third season on Paramount+ at the end of January.
January 1st
Lost (Seasons 1-6)
Only applies to Netflix in the United States

Picture: ABC
It’s been two decades since Lost changed television forever. It popularized many of the tropes we see in big-budget productions to this day and still holds up relatively well for its age. The mystery series follows survivors of a horrific plane crash who land on an island with many mysteries and secrets.
It joined Netflix as part of a Disney deal that bought many older titles from their library to Netflix for an 18-month period. A bunch of other regions also picked up the show, though on much smaller windows. For the first half of 2025, the series picked up 88.6M views. Also, leaving later on in January is all seasons of Prison Break.
January 1st
Star Trek: Prodigy (Season 2)

Picture: Paramount+
For animation fans or even Star Trek fans, Netflix came to the rescue when it picked up the completed second season and premiered it in mid-2024. Still, its savior status has been somewhat undone in recent months following the removal of season 1 over the summer.
The removal of season 2 shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, given that we reported over the Summer that Netflix had passed on season 3 of the show and that both seasons would soon depart. That indeed became reality on June 24th, 2025, with the first season leaving, and now we’ve got confirmation that our reporting on season 2 leaving on January 1st, 2026, is correct.
We’ve seen some rumors that Paramount+ may be picking up the show’s two seasons again in 2026, but we can’t back it up for now. Fingers crossed this excellent animated series does find a new home.

Tacoma FD (Seasons 1-3)
Only applies to Netflix in the United States

Picture: TruTV
If you’re looking for some comedy over the festive period, we can’t think of a better recommendation than giving Tacoma FD a whirl, especially since it went largely unnoticed during its original run on TruTV, yes, TruTV, throughout the late 2010s and into the 2020s. The show launched on Netflix at the end of 2023, and now, two years later, it is due to leave in full. While some had hoped Netflix’s second wind would give it a fifth season, it wasn’t to be.
The ensemble cast for the series includes Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Hassie Harrison, Marcus Henderson, Gabriel Hogan, Eugene Cordero, Christopher Avila, and Heather Mazur.
Leaving Jan 3rd
Mr. Robot (Seasons 1-4)
Only applies to Netflix in the United States

Picture: NBCUniversal
This one is truly bizarre. While we’ve seen some short licensing windows to Netflix for TV shows as of late, they’ve typically been at least one year at a minimum. Mr. Robot, the excellent and award-winning series from Sam Esmail, is not following that mantra, with it set to leave Netflix after barely six months on the platform. Why this window is so short is anyone’s guess but if you haven’t watched this show, it’s the only I give my biggest recommendation to on this list.
Starring Rami Malek and Christian Slater, the thriller series follows Elliot, a cyber engineer by day who is about to commit one of the biggest hacks in human history and change the course of the world.
