Netflix Just Added Over 50 New Movies and Series for February 1st, 2026

1 February 202612 Mins Read

While we do get a preview of what’s coming up on Netflix for the first of the month, there are often quite a few surprises, and that was once again the case today. 44 new movie arrivals and 8 new series touched down on the streamer in the United States for February 1st, 2026, and given we’re a way from our end-of-week recap, we thought we’d do an early one today, along with 3 things we think you should be watching.

We’ll be back tomorrow with your look ahead at the next seven days on Netflix. Keep an eye on our coming soon section, and for everything still to come throughout February 2026, keep it locked here.

What to Watch on Netflix for February 1st

Copshop (2021)

Rating: R
Language: English
Genre: Action, Thriller
Director: Joe Carnahan
Cast: Gerard Butler, Frank Grillo, Alexis Louder
Writer: Kurt McLeod, Joe Carnahan, Mark Williams
Runtime: 107 min / 1h 47m

If you loved The Rip with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, some of the DNA of that was undoubtedly underpinned by director Joe Carnahan, who has a string of other movies, but one that’s closest is Copshop, headlined by Gerard Butler and Frank Grillo. The official synopsis reads, “Bullets fly and blood splatters in a small-town police station when a rookie cop unwittingly locks a hired killer in the cell opposite his target.”

Interestingly, Netflix is labeling this as a Netflix Original even in the United States. As you may know, the streamer secured exclusive first-run rights to the film in most international territories beginning in January 2022, but in the US, it was always distributed by Open Road Films, which is licensing the streamer here. Why Netflix is labeling it as an Original is anyone’s guess, although their branding is less prevalent in the app, so perhaps it doesn’t matter.

Outside of that controversy, the movie was also the subject of long-running lawsuits, which another just recently wrapped.

Ex Machina (2014)

Rating: R
Language: English
Genre: Drama, Sci-Fi, Thriller
Director: Alex Garland
Cast: Alicia Vikander, Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac
Writer: Alex Garland
Runtime: 108 min / 1h 48m

I’ve never made a definitive top 10 movies of all time list, but chances are Ex Machina would rank very highly on it, alongside a few other Alex Garland films. It remains one of the very few movies I make a habit of watching once a year, despite being absolutely sick of the conversation around AI.

The story follows a company employee who is randomly selected to test a new robot prototype that displays remarkable human-like abilities. Will it pass the Turing test, and will the CEO’s ego and personal issues derail the experiment? You’ll have to find out. Slick performances all around, incredible atmosphere, and an ending that’s ambiguous enough to still have me asking questions and pondering what’s next all these years later.

Locke (2013)

Rating: R
Language: English
Genre: Drama
Director: Steven Knight
Cast: Tom Hardy, Olivia Colman, Ruth Wilson
Writer: Steven Knight
Runtime: 85 min / 1h 25m

Netflix has become a treasure trove for A24 movies, and joining Ex Machina today is Locke, headlined by Tom Hardy, which will feel right at home if you loved Havoc from Netflix last year.

Hardy plays Ivan Locke, a dedicated construction manager who, on the eve of the biggest concrete pour of his career, receives a phone call that changes everything. Instead of heading to the job site or home to his family, he gets behind the wheel of his BMW and begins a ninety-minute drive from Birmingham to London. As he navigates the dark highway, he must use his car’s hands-free phone to manage a crumbling personal life, a career-threatening crisis, and a moral obligation he refuses to abandon, all in real-time.
