As projects quickly move into production for a 2027 premiere, Netflix is staying in business with the creative force behind one of its most splashy French hits. Here are all the reported details for Clean (Working Title), whose shoot kicked off in mid-February 2026.

Class Act (known in France as Tapie) may not have topped every global chart in 2023, but it was a bold, award-winning look at the life of the controversial Bernard Tapie. Director Tristan Séguéla—whose work on the series earned a BAFTA International Award and an International Emmy nomination—recently segued into the soccer drama Mercato.

As French daily paper Le Parisien reveals alongside trade publication Le Film Français, Séguéla is reuniting with his Class Act leading man, Laurent Lafitte, for a gritty new Netflix original.

What is Clean about?

In this high-stakes legal thriller, Lafitte stars as Léonard Landry, a brilliant but cocaine-addicted criminal defense lawyer. Landry’s double life reaches a breaking point when he collapses from an overdose in the middle of a heated courtroom argument.

After a stint in rehab, Landry is thrown into the deep end with only one week to prepare for the trial of a lifetime. He is tasked with defending a powerful industrial group accused of complicity with a terrorist network operating in Africa. While navigating this geopolitical minefield, Landry must simultaneously prepare for his own trial, with his only support coming from a determined beginner lawyer played by Anthony Bajon.

An A-List Ensemble

The production, which is currently seeking extras for a Parisian nightclub scene, boasts an exceptionally decorated cast:

  • Laurent Lafitte (Léonard Landry): A former member of the Comédie-Française and the Master of Ceremonies for the Cannes Film Festival 2025, Lafitte is coming off the massive success of The Count of Monte Cristo (which saw 9 million admissions).
  • Anthony Bajon: A César Award winner for The Prayer, Bajon plays the novice lawyer assisting Landry.
  • Mélanie Laurent: Internationally recognized for her roles in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds and Le Bal des folles.
  • Carole Bouquet: A legendary figure in French cinema and a former James Bond actress (For Your Eyes Only).

Production company Iconoclast is behind the project; they previously shepherded the high-concept EDM satire Banger starring Vincent Cassel. While Netflix has not yet officially confirmed the film, it is expected to hit screens in 2027.
