Netflix To Add Action-Comedy Anime ‘Rooster Fighter’ in October 2026

Netflix’s fall anime lineup just got a whole lot more absurd—and action-packed. We’ve learned that the hit comedy-action anime Rooster Fighter (also known in Japan as Niwatori Fighter) will hit Netflix in the United States and select other regions on October 10th, 2026.

Based on the wildly popular manga by Shu Sakuratani (published in English by VIZ Media), Rooster Fighter took the anime community by storm when it premiered earlier this year during the Spring 2026 season. Now, fresh off its initial broadcast run, the 12-episode first season is making its way to Netflix.

What is Rooster Fighter about?

If you haven’t heard of this series yet, prepare yourself for one of the most unique and entertaining premises in recent anime history. It’s an over-the-top blend of classic shonen battle tropes, kaiju-sized destruction, and hilarious deadpan animal comedy.

Here is the rundown of what to expect:

Humanity is on the verge of collapse after demonic mutant monsters known as ‘Kiju’ suddenly descend upon Japan, laying waste to cities and crushing all in their path. As military resistance fails and hope fades, a lone hero steps forward with razor-sharp spurs and an unmatched battle cry. That hero is Keiji—a fearless, ridiculously overpowered rooster. Carrying a tragic past and a burning mission for revenge, Keiji travels from city to city, taking on colossal threats to save the world, one fight at a time.

Who is behind the series?

The television adaptation was brought to life through dynamic 3D animation by Studio Sanzigen, the team known for their impressive CGI work. The anime is directed by Daisuke Suzuki, with the heavy-hitting Hiroshi Seko (Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan) handling the series composition.

If you plan to watch the English dub, you’ll be treated to the booming voice of Patrick Seitz, who perfectly captures the gritty, hard-boiled essence of the titular rooster, Keiji.

The original Japanese voice cast includes Kenta Miyake, Mariko Honda, Shiori Izawa, Tomohiro Ono, Mitsuaki Kanuka, Yuhko Kaida, Jun Kasama, Natsumi Fujiwara, Akio Otsuka, and Hikaru Tono.

When and where is it coming to Netflix?

Rooster Fighter will be available to stream on Netflix starting Saturday, October 10th, 2026.

Currently, we can confirm the series will be dropping on Netflix in the United States, with select other international regions expected to receive the show on the exact same day. Much like Snowball Earth and other recent anime acquisitions, this marks another smart move by Netflix to secure streaming rights for viral anime hits shortly after their original Japanese airings.
