Netflix’s Most Watched Series and Movies Ever

Over the years, Netflix has released some gigantic hits! Thanks to the top 10 data, here’s your guide to all of the biggest and most-watched movies, series, and live events on Netflix of all time! 

To measure its biggest hits, Netflix uses hours watched and completed viewing equivalents (CVE for short). These viewing hours are derived from Netflix’s global subscriber base, and CVE calculates the runtime of the show or movie by dividing it by the number of hours watched. It’s not perfect, but it’s substantially better than what other streamers provide.

Before Netflix switched its hourly figures, it used the number of households that watched within the first 28 days. While these numbers are difficult to compare with the list below, we have maintained a record of all the old Netflix viewership statistics here. Those numbers are correct up through October 2021, when Netflix switched.

Below, we’ve compiled a complete list of all titles in the top 10 since mid-2021. This provides a comprehensive list of older 28-day hourly statistics and Netflix’s newer 91-day statistics, which we’ve divided into separate categories.

Note: Last updated on January 20th, 2026, with the latest figures for Stranger Things 5, which now sits at #4 on the all-time list. Latest figures for The Great Flood.
