2020’s Raat Akeli Hai is one of Netflix India’s best Original films. The mystery about a murdered rich man and his suspicious family is riveting from the first minute. Acclaimed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays Investigator Jatil Yadav, a flawed character who learns important lessons from interacting with the troubled family. The role won Siddiqui a 2020 Filmfare OTT Award for Best Actor, and the movie won Best Web Original Film.

Inspector Yadav returns in the sequel Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders. This time, multiple members of a prominent family are murdered. As before, there are plenty of suspects among the close relatives, all of whom are eager to pin the blame on someone else. The thriller held a special screening at the International Film Festival of India in November.

The team behind Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders is unchanged from the first movie, with Honey Trehan returning to direct another script by Smita Singh. The film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala of RSVP Movies and Trehan and Abhishek Chaubey of Macguffin Pictures.

What is the plot of Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders?

Here’s how Netflix describes the plot of this sequel:

Set in Kanpur, the story begins when the affluent and well-known Bansal family from the heart of Uttar Pradesh is found brutally murdered in their mansion. Jatil Yadav is drawn into a web of power, deception, blind faith, and long-buried secrets, where every suspect hides a motive and every revelation peels back another layer of darkness.

Who is cast in Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders?

Nawazuddin Siddiqui (Sacred Games) is back as Inspector Jatil Yadav.

Also returning are Radhika Apte (Ghoul) as Radha, Shreedhar Dubey (Homebound) as Nandu, and Ila Arun (Lamhe) as Yadav’s mom, Sarita.

New cast members include:

  • Chitrangda Singh (Khakee: The Bengal Chapter)
  • Rajat Kapoor (Rana Naidu)
  • Revathi (Tooth Pari)
  • Sanjay Kapoor (Murder Mubarak)
  • Deepti Naval (Lion)

Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders has a runtime of 2 hours 16 minutes with a TV-MA rating in the US. Netflix offers the new movie with the following audio options: Hindi [Original], English, Hindi – Audio Description, Indonesian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Latin American and Spanish), Tamil, Telugu, Thai. Subtitles are available in English and 33 other languages (including Hindi closed captioning).
