For Felix Rosenqvist, the month of May is one he will never forget.
In the final seconds of Sunday’s Indy 500, Rosenqvist had saved enough gas and was able to narrowly pass David Malukas to claim victory. And it was the closest race in the event’s history, with the Meyer Shank Racing driver winning by 0.0233 seconds.

However, this isn’t all that Rosenqvist has to celebrate this month.
The driver and his wife welcomed their first child earlier in May.
“We joked about it in the beginning, ‘Maybe you’ll win the 500 and have a baby,’” Rosenqvist said after the race, per The Athletic. “It’s just unreal.”
Rosenqvist announced the news in an emotional Instagram post, sharing numerous photos of his wife and him with their newborn daughter. The couple married in Sweden on Sept. 21, 2024.
“On May 4th, 2026 our little Stella was born and our hearts doubled in size. Mom and baby are both very healthy and dad has never been more proud. Ready for our next chapter as a family of 3 ❤️,” he captioned the post.
He received tons of congratulatory comments, including from F1 driver Max Verstappen as well as from the official IndyCar and Indianapolis Motor Speedway accounts.
And ahead of the race, he opened up about this opportunity to compete with his three-week old daughter and his wife cheering him on.
“Normally I prefer to separate racing from my private life, but this is just such a big moment for us and an overwhelming feeling of love,” Rosenqvist said according to Felix Racing. “Both mom and baby are healthy and as for me, I’ve never been happier or more proud. We are so excited about this new chapter in life. It fills me with a sense of purpose and perspective that I genuinely believe will only do me good on the track as well.”
