JW Marriott opened its first resort in Greece, the JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa, in Marathi near Chania.
JW Marriott has expanded its global portfolio by launching the JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa. This marks the brand’s first establishment in Greece, and is situated in Marathi, close to the town of Chania. The resort encompasses over 100 acres along the Cretan coastline.
The newly opened resort features 160 guest accommodations, including rooms, suites, and villas, many offering private pools and panoramic views of the Aegean Sea. The resort’s design aims to complement the natural landscape of Crete, incorporating local materials such as marble and wood and featuring environmentally sustainable elements like geothermal and solar energy systems.
JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa offers various amenities aimed at enhancing the guest experience. These include six dining venues that focus on local ingredients and flavors, a spa named ANOSEAS Spa offering a blend of traditional Cretan and modern therapies, and multiple swimming pools. The resort also provides a fitness center, a yoga deck, and a dedicated area for children’s activities known as the Phestos Den.
The culinary offerings at the resort are diverse, with restaurants such as ANOEE focusing on Cretan cuisine, Ønalos offering sea-to-table dining, and Cuccagna presenting Italian dishes. The resort also emphasizes its commitment to sustainability and wellness with the JW Garden, which grows herbs and vegetables used throughout the property.
This new opening is part of Marriott International’s luxury portfolio, which includes more than 125 JW Marriott hotels globally.
