It’s been a slow start to the year for Netflix Games, with only a handful of new mobile games to speak of. More bad news than good has emerged, as a slew of titles have departed, and many are now canceled behind the scenes. That said, one upcoming mobile game that’s just entered a soft-launch phase has piqued our interest. Here’s what you need to know about Netflix Puzzled.
Dubbed an “ever-evolving puzzle platform”, the new game is a collection of puzzles like you’d expect from the New York Times. From Sudoku to shapes, Bonza to Crosswords, this game will eventually have something for every puzzle enthusiast without the burden of in-app ads, microtransactions, or subscriptions (beyond your Netflix one, anyway). The game also appears to incorporate Netflix into its themes, with one of the screenshots below featuring Stranger Things characters as its answers.
The official description reads:
Whether you’re a crossword wizard or a logic puzzle fanatic, Puzzled will be your new home base. This is a one-stop shop for all types of fun and satisfying daily brain games, from the classic logic challenge of Sudoku to creative new word puzzles like Bonza. And with the option to play offline, your daily puzzle moment is whenever you want it to be.
The collection of daily logic and word games on Puzzled will expand and evolve, so you can always discover what’s next in the world of puzzles. Try new games and see which ones are the perfect fit for the way your brain works.
Next Games, a Netflix Game Studio, is behind the new game with the Finnish studio first acquired by Netflix back in 2022. So far, they ported over Stranger Things: Puzzle Tales over to Netflix Games, but servers were discontinued late last year. They were also scheduled to bring their game, Compass Point: West, to Netflix, although those plans have been scrapped.
Early reviews have been relatively poor for the storefronts so far, with many criticizing the lack of available games. Netflix has responded, saying that more is on the way and that the game is still in active development. “Netflix Puzzled is still in development,” reads one of the responses from Netflix adding,”we aim to offer a wider variety of games in the future. Currently, each game consists of 10 chapters, each containing six fun puzzle games. I hope you’ve been able to find all of them.”
The game is now available for those in Chile, Australia, and Poland (a notable departure from other recent tests, which have been predominantly confined to Asia), with a broader launch expected within the next few weeks to months.
