One of YouTube’s most prolific content creators, Alan Chikin Chow, is joining forces with Netflix and Hybe America for a brand-new scripted television series centered on K-pop.
Alan Chikin Chow is one of the largest short-form content creators on YouTube, with an astounding 130 million followers spread across his three channels: Alan’s Universe (99.2 million), AU (14.2 million), and Alan’s Best (12.1 million). On the Alan Universe channel alone, it has amassed over 59 billion views. Today, Netflix announced that the YouTuber will team up with the streaming service, in collaboration with lifestyle platform HYBE AMERICA, to produce a brand-new scripted series exclusively for Netflix.
Chow is an executive producer on the series, and is joined by HYBE AMERICA’s President of Film and Television, James Shin, and AU President and former Vice President of BIGHIT Music, Jingu Jang.

The brand new series will follow a “misfit crew of aspiring pop idol rejects” who have enrolled at an arts academy to form a co-ed band. The stars will work alongside Chow and will release brand-new original music throughout the series. Chow will teach his content creation expertise; meanwhile, the stars will receive idol training from HYBE AMERICA. Expectations are high as the stars aim to follow in the footsteps of idol groups such as KATSEYE and BTS.
Chow shared a statement with Netflix about the series:
“Our groundbreaking project brings together extraordinary creative talent across Netflix and HYBE AMERICA to launch a pioneering new franchise for the next generation. Together with world-class teams who consistently shape culture on a global scale, our mission is to set a new standard for storytelling: designed to inspire creativity, spark joy, and impart timeless life lessons for audiences worldwide.”
With Chow’s content expertise and HYBE’s K-pop training, the music group will be well on its way to joining the ranks of KATSEYE and BTS.
James Shin also shared his excitement about the opportunity to work with Chow on the series:
“A culture-defining model for how pop groups are created. With a proven visionary like Alan, who is at the forefront of the creator ecosystem, we’re setting out to produce a groundbreaking series that expands audiences, possibilities, and how fandom is built from day one.”
