New ‘Pokémon’ Release Is Essential for All Eevee Fans

With eight official Eeveelutions, fans of the beloved normal-type Pokémon aren’t hurting for options — yet paradoxically, they’re also one of the most neglected segments of the fandom. After all, it’s been 13 years since Game Freak introduced a new Eevee monster in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. With 18 standard Pokémon types in the games, that means we haven’t seen even half of the possible Eeveelution concepts. Never mind the number of Eeveelutions that would be possible if Pokémon’s developers ever started combining Eeveelution types.

Pokémon Winds and Waves could potentially introduce a new Eevee, but that game doesn’t seem to be coming out any time soon. Rather than get their hopes up for something that is extremely unlikely, though, Eevee devotees might be better served by playing a new fan game called Pokémon Oops! All Eevees.

Despite the name, the fan game isn’t a one-trick Ponyta. Yes, every monster in the game has been replaced with an Eeveelution, but creator 999999999 has also introduced all sorts of original Eevee designs into the experience as well. There’s a ghost-type Eevee called Fanteon, a flying-type creature called Aeraerieon, and a fighting-type Eeveelution called Aercampeon, just to name a few. The fangame isn’t afraid to double-dip into existing Eeveelution types, either. Many of these new designs have their own evolution lines.

All told, Oops! All Eevees introduces an astonishing 326 Eevelutions into the base Pokémon FireRed game. A video that quickly speeds through all the available monsters in this fangame runs nearly 40 minutes.

All existing Eevelutions have expanded movesets, and the game is generous with Rare Candies for those who want to skip the grind. There’s a totally new endgame as well, which the game’s description claims will “put your knowledge of Eevees to the test.” If somehow hundreds of new Eeves aren’t enough, the fan game also gives you trainer outfits that let you look like an Eevelution — and there’s a built-in way to “evolve” yourself.

Though the basic game is already out there, the developer isn’t quite done yet. 999999999 is planning an update for Nov. 21, Eevee day in Japan, which will add more Pokédex entries and additional overworld sprites.

Until then, there’s plenty here to keep Eevee fans busy. The developer has even teased on social media that “Surely there aren’t any secret Eevees located anywhere, like under the Truck or in Cerulean Cave.” In another social media post, the dev claims the game introduces an “Eevee god” that is every elemental type at once — and it’s not the final boss!

So far, fans seem ecstatic. One player wrote that Oops! All Eevees is “everything I’ve ever wanted.” Others are already creating fan art for the Eevee-themed game. You can check out Oops! All Eevees at the PokéCommunity forums.
