New Releases on Netflix This Week & Top 10 Movies & Series: June 20th, 2025

Happy Friday! Welcome along to another weekend roundup of everything new that you can stream on Netflix right now. Below, we’ll walk you through the new additions of this week and even last week, plus give you some recommendations for the weekend, and we’ll also check in with what’s trending in the US daily top 10 charts.

As a bit of housekeeping, a reminder that we’re still tracking upcoming June 2025 releases here and also cataloging the July 2025 roster of new titles here. We’d also highly recommend checking out the list of removals planned for July, as it’s going to be a particularly busy month for departures with hit shows and big movies all leaving. Make sure none are on your list before you have to say goodbye!

Now onto the highlights:

What to Watch on Netflix This Weekend

The Waterfront (Season 1)

Number of episodes: 8
Rating: TV-MA
Language: English
Genre: Crime, Drama, Family
Cast: Holt McCallany, Melissa Benoist, Jake Weary, Maria Bello, Rafael L. Silva, Humberly González

We’ve been hyping up The Waterfront for a while now, and for good reason. Not only is its cast really solid, but it’s also got a good pedigree behind the camera with Kevin Williamson, best known for titles like Scream, The Following, The Vampire Diaries, and even Dawson’s Creek, spearheading the project.

The family drama centers upon a fishing empire helmed by Harlan Buckley (played by Mindhunter actor Holt McCallany) but the good days are in the rearview mirror and vultures are circling…

The series can feel a little janky in places, and the pace is sometimes a little jarring, but I’m having a fun time with this new drama, and I suspect it’ll grow its audience as new people stumble upon it on their Netflix accounts in the coming days and weeks. When the series is good, it’s great borrowing elements from a bunch of different shows, whether that’s Outer Banks, Ozarks, or even the recently released Animal Kingdom show that joined Netflix for the first time.

KPop Demon Hunters (2025)

Language: English
Genre: Animation, Action, Adventure
Director: Chris Appelhans, Maggie Kang
Cast: Rolando Davila-Beltran
Writer: Danya Jimenez, Hannah McMechan
Runtime: 99 mins

It’s been just over two years since KPop Demon Hunters was sold by Sony Animation to Netflix, and the animated film is finally available to stream. From the team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the movie blends musical comedy with action, following a chart-topping K-pop girl group that doubles as a demon-fighting squad. With strong Totally Spies vibes and standout animation that continues Sony’s hot streak, the film is another example of why the studio is leading the pack right now.

Rosario Tijeras (Season 4)

Number of episodes: 37
Rating: TV-MA
Language: Spanish
Genre: Action, Crime, Drama
Cast: Bárbara de Regil, Sebastián Martínez, Harold Azuara

Finally, for our top picks for this week, if you’re looking for a very long international binge, then you could do a lot worse than the Spanish-language Mexican adaptation of Rosario Tijeras, which returns for its fourth season and only (!) features 40 episodes. That may sound like a lot, but compared to the 70 episodes of season 3, it’s quite a drop.

For those unfamiliar, the series follows Rosario, a young woman from a tough neighborhood who becomes an assassin after enduring a traumatic past. Mixing action, romance, and crime, it’s one of those classic telenovela-style series that’s as addictive as it is intense
