New Silver Palace trailer showcases stylish Victorian detective RPG

The anime-inspired action role-playing game Silver Palace is currently in the midst of its “Dichotomy” beta test. To celebrate, developer and publisher Elementa Games has released a new gameplay trailer showing off the detective RPG that aims to compete with Hoyoverse titles like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail.

Elementa revealed Silver Palace last year with a 10-minute showcase of the game that highlighted its Victorian fantasy aesthetics. In Silver Palace, players take on the role of a detective in the grand world of Silvernia, tasked with investigating the city’s darkest secrets. Since its announcement, players have had one chance to try the game out for themselves during the closed “Monotype” beta held earlier this January. Now a second closed beta, “Dichotomy,” is active until July 16 on Windows PC. Interested players can sign up for a chance to join the beta by going to the official Silver Palace site. The beta has no in-game purchases, and all data will be wiped at its conclusion.

The new trailer puts an emphasis on the story, environments, and numerous systems available in Silver Palace. The female protagonist does everything from playing card games and chess matches to interrogating suspects and riding seemingly fantastic beasts through the air. Some of the most stunning parts of the trailer center around a massive flying whale that serves as a blimp (like in the Netflix series Leviathan). The tension between the protagonist and a mysterious figure named Red Rose (who narrates the trailer) evokes the iconic Honkai: Star Rail animated short starring Acheron and Black Swan. The ability to stealthily snoop on characters in service of detective work looks especially unique, perhaps letting Elementa carve a niche for Silver Palace in a crowded field of open-world gacha RPGs.

Alongside the announcement of the new beta, Elementa released another trailer revealing the long-awaited male protagonist. Those who are lucky enough to get access to the “Dichotomy” beta test will be able to play as the male protagonist and explore new environments and systems previously unavailable during the “Monotype” beta. For those who don’t get access to the current beta, Elementa has announced it is taking the game on tour and giving fans a chance to go hands-on with Silver Palace at select events throughout the year.

Elementa has yet to announce a release date for Silver Palace, but here’s hoping the “Dichotomy” beta will bring the game one step closer.
