The 2024-2025 PWHL season is already bringing the excitement to Toronto! The city’s team is gearing up for year two and will not only sport a new venue but also a new team name and logo.
Get ready – here’s what you need to know about Toronto’s PWHL team ahead of the new season.
The Toronto Sceptres
Let’s start with the new team name which was announced on Monday, September 9th.
The team took to social media to make the announcement of the official team name and logo. The team is now the Toronto Sceptres.
If you’re wondering what sceptre means the team included the definition in the announcement post writing, “an ornamented stick that is borne in the hand as a symbol of power and strength.”
The team also offered some insight into the logo. “The logo is a monogram that seamlessly intertwines the letters “t” and “s”, standing for Toronto and Sceptres, respectively. This monogram is not just a typographic choice but a symbol of power, strength and heritage.”
Coca-Cola Coliseum
Toronto played at Mattamy Athletic Centre throughout the league’s inaugural season, selling out crowds! Now, Coca-Cola Coliseum will serve as the team’s primary home venue for regular-season games throughout the 2024-25 campaign.
The team played at Coca-Cola Coliseum during last season’s playoff run.
“We are excited to be calling Coca-Cola Coliseum our home for the upcoming season,” says Gina Kingsbury, General Manager of PWHL Toronto.
“We look forward to creating an atmosphere that will be a unique and special sporting experience unlike anything else in Toronto.”
