  • Nicholas Smith has been appointed Vice President of Operations for Minor Hotels’ Asia region.
  • Smith brings over 25 years of hospitality experience, having previously held significant roles at Shangri-La Group, Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, and Savoy Group.

Minor Hotels recently announced the appointment of Nicholas Smith as Vice President of Operations for its Asia region. Smith, a seasoned hotelier, will oversee and enhance the group’s rapidly expanding portfolio in Asia.

Smith boasts an impressive 25-year career in the hospitality industry, bringing a wealth of expertise to his new role at Minor Hotels. He honed his operational skills at the Shangri-La Group, where he joined in 2008 as a Food & Beverage Manager in Malaysia. Over 15 years, he occupied several senior leadership positions, including hotel and general manager roles at Shangri-La and Kerry Hotels properties in China, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Malaysia.

Before joining Minor Hotels, Smith served as Vice President of Food & Beverage and Operations for MEIA (Middle East, India, Indian Ocean, Europe, and the Americas), where he supervised the performance of 17 of the group’s properties. Smith’s extensive career includes food and beverage and event management roles with the Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, and Savoy Group in London and the United States. He also led the launch of Sindalah Island, NEOM’s premier luxury island and yacht club destination in Saudi Arabia.

His new role at Minor Hotels puts him at the helm of a fast-growing portfolio in a region targeted for significant expansion. The group aims to add more than 100 properties across the continent by 2027, and Smith’s leadership is expected to aid in achieving operational excellence and supporting these ambitious growth plans.

Smith, a British national, holds a bachelor’s degree in hotel and catering management from Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK.
