Nicki Minaj Shares Candid Opinion on Taylor Swift's Unexpected New Track 'Wood'

3 October 20254 Mins Read

Nicki Minaj has already listened to Taylor Swift‘s brand new album, The Life of a Showgirl—and she has some thoughts about one song in particular.

Minaj, 42, was among the millions of Swifties who listened to The Life of a Showgirl after it officially dropped at midnight on Friday, Oct. 3. The new album marks the twelfth studio album for Swift, 35, and with several unexpectedly raunchy lyrics, it’s safe to say the album is already different than anything Swift has done before.

Nicki Minaj shares an honest review of Taylor Swift’s explicit new song ‘Wood.’

Nicki Minaj Reacts to Taylor Swift’s Explicit New Song, “Wood”

Perhaps one of the raciest songs on the new album is track no. 9, entitled “Wood,” which contains no shortage of sexual euphemisms in the lyrics—and Minaj, for one, is here for it.

Just an hour after the album officially dropped, Minaj took to social media to express the strong feelings she has about “Wood” and its cheeky lyrics.

“Oh Taylor #WOOD was EXACTLY what I needed tonight,” Minaj posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday morning, while thanking the “Anti-Hero” songstress for delivering the catchy—and explicit—new track.

In a follow-up message on X, Minaj said the sound of the bouncy new track “feels really good,” which she believes is a “hard” sensation to convey in a song, especially on the first listen.

“Well done,” the “Super Bass” artist wrote to Swift in her post, before adding that the pop star “brought [the song] home” by incorporating her higher register in the song.

Lyrics to Taylor Swift’s New Song “Wood” from The Life of a Showgirl

In addition to the song’s upbeat nature, “Wood” is also chock-full of innuendos and tongue-in-cheek descriptions of Swift’s fiancé Travis Kelce and his—well, “magic wand”—as Swift words it in the song.

Some of the most risqué lines in the song include lyrics like “New heights of manhood” and “His love was the key that opened my thighs.”

Here are the rest of the lyrics to Swift’s new track “Wood”:

“Daisy’s bare naked, I was distraught
He loves me not, he loves me not
Penny’s unlucky, I took him back
And then stepped on a crack
And the black cat laughed

And baby, I’ll admit I’ve been a little superstitious (Superstitious)
Fingers crossed until you put your hand on mine (Hand on mine)

Seems to be that you and me, we make our own luck
A bad sign is all good
I ain’t got to knock on wood
All of that bitchin’, wishing on a falling star
Never did me any good
I ain’t got to knock on wood

It’s you and me forever dancing in the dark (Ah)
All over me, it’s understood
I ain’t got to knock on wood
Forgive me, it sounds cocky
He ah-matized me and opened my eyes
Redwood tree, it ain’t hard to see
His love was the key that opened my thighs

Girls, I don’t need to catch the bouquet, mm
To know a hard rock is on the way
And baby, I’ll admit I’ve been a little superstitious (Superstitious)
The curse on me was broken by your magic wand (Ah)
Seems to be that you and me, we make our own luck
New Heights (New Heights) of manhood (Manhood)
I ain’t got to knock on wood
(Ah) All of that bitchin’, wishing on a falling star
Never did me any good.

All over me, it’s understood
I ain’t got to knock on wood
Forgive me, it sounds cocky
He ah-matized me and opened my eyes
Redwood tree, it ain’t hard to see
His love was the key that opened my thighs
Forgive me, it sounds cocky
He ah-matized me and opened my eyes
Redwood tree, it ain’t hard to see
His love was the key that opened my thighs
