NZ Hotel Holdings’ Diverse Hotel Portfolio Up for Grabs

In a historic move, NZ Hotel Holdings (NZHH) has announced its intent to divest its nationwide hotel portfolio, marking the largest such portfolio ever brought to market in New Zealand.

NZHH, a leading hotel group in New Zealand, has announced the divestment of its nationwide portfolio of hotel assets. CBRE’s Michael Simpson, Peter Hamilton, and Nick Hill are managing the sale through an International Expressions of Interest Campaign. The selling decision aligns with the investors’ strategy of developing high-quality assets and reinvesting the proceeds into further growth opportunities.

NZ Hotel Holdings

Formed in 2019, NZ Hotel Holdings is a partnership between NZ Super Fund, Russell Property Group, and Lockwood Property Group. The partnership aims to develop hotel assets that will bolster both domestic and international tourism in New Zealand.

The sold portfolio includes leading Auckland hotels Four Points by Sheraton, QT Auckland, and Adina Apartment Hotel Britomart. It also includes Rydges Rotorua and Rydges Wellington, Sofitel Queenstown Hotel and Spa, and BreakFree on Cashel in Christchurch.

New Zealand Tourism and the Future

The New Zealand Government has strongly supported tourism growth in the country. With new international tourism campaigns targeting high-population and high-value markets such as India, China, and the USA, international visitation and hotel demand are expected to increase.

NZHH’s Chief Executive, Marcus Reinders, believes that with tourism back on the growth curve, the opportunity is ripe for an investor seeking scale, geographic diversity, and holistic coverage of New Zealand’s key tourism markets.

This sale represents the largest and most comprehensive portfolio of investment-grade hotels ever brought to market in New Zealand. The country, known for its stunning landscapes, diverse wildlife, and rich cultural heritage, is a highly sought-after travel destination. This portfolio covers all major New Zealand markets, catering to business and leisure travelers.

The International Expressions of Interest Campaign for the portfolio will close on Thursday, 26th June 2025 at 4pm NZST.
