Fans of The Early Spring may not have to say goodbye to its romantic world just yet.
Youku, the Chinese streaming platform behind the surprise Netflix hit, has teased a follow-up project using the hashtag #盛夏晴朗, which can be translated as “Midsummer Clarity” or “A Clear Midsummer Day.” Although official story and casting details have not been announced, viewers already believe the new series could shift its focus from Luke and Flora to another couple introduced in The Early Spring: Lumi and Will.

Details about the sequel have yet to be announced, but we believe it will follow the romance between two workplace workers Lumi (Yezi Zhang) and Will (Chang Liu). The two begin with a someone antagonistic, power-struggle relationship. But the two have an opposites attracts-vibe with Lumi being a carefree, bohemian spirit while the scholarly Will is conservative and tight-laced. Their chemistry in the novel was so palpable, the author of The Early Spring ended up writing a squel about Lumi and Will called Miss Talkative.
The same creative team and head writer Gao Xiaxian will lead the sequel to The Early Spring.
