One of the prettiest towns in Ontario is a hidden gem

22 March 20253 Mins Read

Road trip, anyone? Spring is here and I’m starting to make my list of all the places I want to visit around Ontario this summer. One of the first on that list is Perth, known as one of the province’s prettiest towns. The area has plenty of accommodations, amazing restaurants and natural sights.

Here’s what to do while you’re there.

First stop, Murphy’s Point Provincial Park! If you love a hot girl (or boy) walk, this park has over 10 km of trails to check out. If you’re up for it, the Point Trail is a personal favourite, spanning 5.5 km.

According to Ontario Parks, Point Trail takes you to “the tip of the peninsula with stops at the sandy beach and good views of Big Rideau Lake along the way.”

If you’re looking for something a little shorter try out the Sylvan Trail, a 2.5 km loop. As you venture around this spot, you’ll catch some stellar views along the Frontenac Arch, the southernmost extension of the Canadian Shield.

Time to head into town, specifically Gore Street. You can get some shopping done at one of the many stores along the strip, including Flint and Honey, Fall River Fashion, Gore Street Antique Market, and Red Brick Emporium.

One of Perth’s most beloved places is Stewart Park, located right in the heart of town. The Tay River flows through the park making it a great place to relax for a bit or snap some photos.

Less than a 10-minute walk from the park is Bridge Masters Brewing. After all that exploring, it’s time to kick back with a cold one, and this is the perfect place to do so. Try a local beer and snack on something from their menu, such as a soft pretzel, bison burger, smoked meat sandwich, sausage on a bun or beef barbacoa quesadilla.

Need a place to stay? My recommendation is the Nevis Estate Boutique Hotel. This gorgeous and historic hotel has everything you need, including daily breakfast, a lobby bar, a pool, and a courtyard.

There ya have it, a perfect itinerary for a stay in Perth, Ontario.
