Bandai Namco, Shueisha Inc., and Toei Animation Co. recently revealed full details about the upcoming One Piece Day ’26 and what to expect from this event centered on Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates. In short, it’s possible we’ll get announcements about the series’ many upcoming projects.
What is One Piece Day?
One Piece Day is a yearly event meant to celebrate the July 22, 1997, launch of the One Piece manga in Weekly Shonen Jump. The Japan Anniversary Association made One Piece Day an official anniversary in 2017. More recently, Bandai Namco has begun hosting an in-person event to celebrate the series, and this year’s will take place at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba City, Japan. The organizers will livestream key programs from the in-person celebration, including panels, musical performances, and announcements.
What time does One Piece Day Start?
You can watch this year’s One Piece Day livestream for free on the official One Piece YouTube channel. It will consist of two streams, one on Aug. 21 at 5:15 a.m. EDT, and the second on Aug. 22 at 9:30 p.m. EDT.
What will be shown during One Piece Day?
A press release revealed the following updates and activities for the One Piece Day ’26 livestream:
- The latest One Piece franchise updates and a One Piece Card Game special announcement.
- A special ELBAPH Arc voice actors talk session featuring the Japanese cast.
- Live performances by Hiroshi Kitadani, Maki Otsuki, AiNA THE END, and 36km/h.
- The reveal of the final results of the 2nd Global ONE PIECE Character Popularity Poll, “WORLD TOP 100,” with rankings No.100–31 announced in the first stream and the Top 30 revealed in the second.
- The “WORLD TOP 100 The King of Guesses,” an interactive prediction campaign available through the ONE PIECE BASE app.
Many fans are likely quite excited to hear what “the latest One Piece franchise updates” will be. During last year’s event, Bandai Namco announced the One Piece Heroines anime and offered a sneak peek at season 2 of Netflix’s live-action series. One Piece has had many spin-off films over the years, and there isn’t a specific date for when the live-action series will return in 2027. One Piece Day may also provide more information on other previously announced projects.
As it stands, One Piece fans have quite a bit to look forward to. There’s Toei’s currently airing anime, WIT Studio’s upcoming remake series, the One Piece: Grand Gourmet management game, additional expansions for the One Piece Card Game, and more.
