Canadian soccer star Jonathan Osorio decided to drop a bit of good personal news before the calendar flipped over to 2025.
Taking to Instagram on Monday night, the Toronto FC midfielder shared that he’d proposed to his longtime girlfriend Michelle following the conclusion of his 2024 MLS season.
While he didn’t share the date himself, Michelle’s social post indicates that Osorio popped the question back in November at what appears to be a custom immersive art exhibit.
The pair also took a recent trip to Cancun as wedding guests, and were no doubt thinking about what their own ceremony might look like.
They aren’t the most public couple on Instagram, but we have been able to string together a bit of their relationship timeline.
A post from September 2022 from Michelle reads, “Two years with my favourite person,” which reveals the two of them have been partnered up since late 2020.
Osorio has been one of the most iconic players in Toronto FC history, having spent his entire pro career with the franchise since debuting in 2013. While offers have come for him to go abroad, Osorio’s opted to stay local his entire pro career and leads the club in career appearances with 302.
On the international scene, it’s been a pretty similar trajectory, having made his debut with the men’s senior side in 2013 and making three appearances for Canada at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He’s been there for just about every major moment of the country’s rise up the world rankings, including a goal at Mexico’s iconic Stadio Azteca in the 2022 World Cup qualifying, which was Canada’s first at the stadium since 1980.
