Over $600 could hit your account this fall if you qualify for the Canada Workers Benefit

10 September 20253 Mins Read

If you’re a Canadian worker earning a modest income, you could be in line for a federal benefit that helps cover everyday costs like rent, food, and transportation.

It’s called the Canada Workers Benefit (CWB), and the next advance payment is on the way this fall.

Here’s everything you need to know about the October 2025 Canada Workers Benefit payment, including how it works and exactly how much you could receive.

What is the Canada Workers Benefit?

The CWB is a refundable credit from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) that helps low-income workers and families cover everyday expenses. You don’t need to apply separately since eligibility is calculated automatically when you file your taxes.

The benefit is paid out in advance installments, so you won’t have to wait until tax time to see the money.

What is the Advanced Canada Workers Benefit?

The Advanced Canada Workers Benefit (ACWB) is a way to get part of your Canada Workers Benefit before tax season.

Instead of waiting for your full credit when you file your return, the CRA sends you up to 50% of your annual CWB in three separate payments over the year. These advance deposits are meant to help with regular living costs, and you don’t need to sign up — if you qualify, the money is sent to you automatically.

How much can Quebecers get in October?

Quebec’s version of the CWB is more generous than in other provinces, and that means bigger advance payments this fall.

For the October 2025 payment, the maximum amounts in Quebec are:

  • $617.56 for single individuals
  • $331.13 for single parents
  • $963.09 for couples without children
  • $617.10 for couples with children
  • An extra $137.95 per person if you qualify for the disability supplement

The tradeoff is that Quebec sets lower income limits, so fewer people get the maximum. Still, if you fall under the thresholds, your October deposit could easily be among the highest in Canada.

Who can receive the CWB?

To qualify for the CWB, you need to:

  • Earn a working income below the income limit for your province or territory
  • Be a resident of Canada all year
  • Be at least 19 years old on December 31, or live with a spouse, common-law partner, or child

You won’t qualify if:

  • You were a full-time student for more than 13 weeks of the year (unless you had an eligible dependant on December 31)
  • You were in prison for 90 days or more during the year
  • You don’t pay Canadian taxes because of your role as a diplomat or similar position

When is the next CWB payment?

Mark your calendar: the next advance Canada Workers Benefit payment is set for Friday, October 10, 2025.

You can confirm your eligibility and exact amount through the CRA’s My Account portal, or by using the Child and Family Benefits Calculator on the government’s website.
