OVO is teaming up with ‘Degrassi’ for a super nostalgic new apparel collection, Canada Reviews

If you grew up watching Degrassi and have always envied the school’s iconic blue-and-gold uniforms, you’re going to want to hear this. On Wednesday, October’s Very Own (OVO) launched an OVO x Degrassi Collection — the partnership of every millennial’s dreams.  Your chance to become a Degrassi Panther is just around the corner, and you’re not going to want to miss out on this new collaboration. 

The collection is a premium apparel line that revamps the Degrassi Panthers’ spirited outfits, with a touch of OVO inspiration. There’s also a profound history between the television show and the city, according to Ben Peace, the executive vice president of franchise of WildBrain, the brand behind the collaboration. 

“Degrassi and OVO share deep Toronto roots, with ties that reach back to Jimmy Brooks and some of the franchise’s most memorable years,” he said in a press release. “Drawing inspiration from the iconic Panthers athletic program, the collection captures the school spirit and athletic tradition that generations of fans have come to associate with Degrassi.”

Degrassi: The Next Generation, hits its 25th anniversary next month, so it’s very fitting timing to celebrate the legendary television franchise. 

On the roster is a set of new apparel that’ll be available at select OVO stores across Canada. That includes Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Centre, CF Toronto Eaton Centre, Square One Shopping Centre and Scarborough Town Centre locations. 

The collection draws inspiration from the Panthers athletic program, so expect comfort with a major dose of nostalgia. Plus, there’s an even deeper-rooted OVO tie: you’ll get to wear a recreation of the basketball jersey worn by the one and only Jimmy Brooks — the character that Drake once so famously played on screen. 

Plus, it’ll include clothes such as a fleece varsity jacket with unique patchwork, retro graphics and detailing of OVO x Degrassi motifs. If something else is more your speed, you can try on other apparel such as a cotton Panthers football jersey that’ll showcase the number 86, Drake’s year of birth (and his birthday is coming up on Oct. 24 — consider this an early birthday present). 

You can find sweatsuits, crewnecks and a range of t-shirts as well, all inspired by Degrassi’s gym uniforms. 

With the launch just a few days away, make sure you catch the OVO x Degrassi Collection when it launches online and in select stores on Sept. 25. Go Panthers!
