GOTY 2026’s Final Nomination Is a Battleground of 8/10 Games

Has 2026 been a vintage year for games? Arguably not. There’s been plenty of good stuff to play, there always is. But, at this late stage in the year, we’ve yet to see any games that rise above and make a bid for modern classic status. There’s been no Clair Obscur, no Baldur’s Gate 3. And average review scores, across the board, are down.
