If you’re looking for a job this summer, Parks Canada is looking to hire thousands of nature lovers nationwide, and they’ve upped their pay.
The government agency wants to hire over 3,000 students and temporary workers for seasonal roles, but several permanent full-time positions are also available. As far as work environments go, it’s hard to beat the experience of working at one of the many national parks, historic sites, and marine conservation areas, all “while playing a key role in preserving the environment and Canadian heritage.”
“If you’re looking for a meaningful job with great perks and are passionate about protecting Canada’s natural wonders for generations to come, then Parks Canada is the place for you,” reads the agency’s 2025 Summer Jobs Inventory website.
What roles are available?
There are several perks to working at Parks Canada, such as work-life balance and training professional development opportunities. There are also lots of different positions you can apply for.
Prefer working outdoors? Parks Canada is looking for students and temporary workers in job areas such as fire team crew, learn-to-camp, lifeguarding, and trail crew. But if you prefer to work indoors, there are openings in finance and accounting, human resources, marketing and communications, multimedia creation, and web content and social media.

How much can you earn?
The pay varies depending on the role. Students can earn anywhere from $16.84 to $24 per hour, while some entry-level seasonal roles can pay an hourly rate of $30.
Salaries and rates have also gone up compared to last year. Here’s a quick peek at some of the unique opportunities available right now, along with their respective pay:
Visitor services attendant — $29.29 to $29.85 per hour
Lifeguard — $32.55 to $33.28 per hour
Maintenance worker — $31.03 to $31.73 per hour
Heritage presenter — $57,3to t0 $58,597
Carpenter — $37.39 to $38.24 per hour
How to apply
To begin, you’ll need to create an account, upload your resume, and include a description of yourself. You’ll be asked about your language proficiency and education. You’ll be able to choose up to 10 preferred work locations and up to 10 types of jobs you prefer.
The process is easy and takes less than 15 minutes.
The deadline to apply is May 1, 2025. However, Parks Canada reviews applications on a rolling basis, so make sure to submit your application as soon as possible.
