Peacock Series ‘Ted’ Set To Arrive on Netflix But Only In Handful of Regions

Thunder buddies for life! Seth MacFarlane’s foul-mouthed teddy bear is packing his bags and heading overseas. We have learned that the hit Peacock Original prequel series Ted is officially set to debut on Netflix in multiple international territories later this month.

We can confirm that the first season of Ted will be available to stream on Netflix in select international regions starting Thursday, April 30th, 2026. It’s a very limited rollout, though, as we’ll get into in a second.

Because Ted is a Peacock Original produced by Universal Content Productions (UCP), its international distribution is a bit of a patchwork quilt. NBCUniversal has been increasingly willing to license its shows to Netflix globally, but it highly depends on pre-existing deals and local streaming landscapes.

The Regions Getting Ted: The April 30th rollout covers a solid mix of territories, including South Africa and several key European markets such as Italy, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, and Greece.

The Exclusions: Interestingly, several major European markets are excluded from this initial drop. We can confirm the series is not currently scheduled for Netflix in France or Spain, nor is it heading to Eastern European territories like the Czech Republic or Poland.

What about the UK and US? Naturally, in regions where Peacock exists (like the US) or where Comcast operates under a different banner (like Sky/NowTV in the UK), the series won’t be jumping to Netflix anytime soon. However, given the current licensing climate, where even HBO and Disney shows have made the jump to Netflix, don’t completely rule it out for the future!

That’s especially true since it looks like season 3 of the show is currently on ice due to the show’s challenging economics, given how expensive it is to produce.

The Lowdown: What is the Ted series about?

Serving as a prequel to the massive 2012 comedy film (which rotates on and off of Netflix globally on a regular basis), the series rewinds the clock to 1993. Ted the bear’s fifteen minutes of fame have long passed, and he is now living back home in Framingham, Massachusetts, with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett.

The series captures the classic, boundary-pushing humor of Seth MacFarlane while wrapping it in the structure of a nostalgic 90s family sitcom. John and Ted navigate the awkwardness of high school, first crushes, and teenage rebellion—usually resulting in catastrophic, R-rated trouble for the duo, much to the dismay of John’s working-class parents and progressive cousin.

Seth MacFarlane returned to write, direct, and provide the iconic voice and motion capture for Ted. He is joined by a hilarious live-action ensemble:

  • Max Burkholder (Parenthood) stepping into Mark Wahlberg’s shoes as young John Bennett.
  • Alanna Ubach (Euphoria) as John’s sweet, long-suffering mother, Susan.
  • Scott Grimes (The Orville, American Dad!) as John’s loud, traditional father, Matty.
  • Giorgia Whigham as Blaire, John’s cynical, college-aged cousin who lives with the family.

Will you be catching up with Ted and John on Netflix this April, where you live? Let us know which region you’re watching from in the comments below!
