People are lining up down the block for this new Toronto bakery that puts sourdough in everything, Canada Reviews

24 June 20262 Mins Read

Before Sourdough Garden had a brick-and-mortar home, its loaves and baked goods were already making the rounds at the Etobicoke Farmers’ Market. Now, the community-loved micro-bakery has started a fresh chapter just down the block, recently relocating to a larger space at 308 Brown’s Line.

The bakery was founded by Kirsty, who opened Sourdough Garden’s first storefront in November. Its new location, which opened last week, gives the bakery more room to grow while continuing to serve the Etobicoke community with its handcrafted sourdough, buns and bagels.

Although the space is new, the focus remains the same: making quality sourdough from carefully chosen ingredients. Every loaf and baked treat is made using 100% certified organic flour, which is unbleached, non-GMO and free from glyphosate and pesticides. The bakery also keeps its ingredient lists super simple, relying on traditional baking methods and a handful of high-quality ingredients rather than preservatives or seed oils.

At the heart of the bakery is Edith (no, not a person, the sourdough starter). “Edith” is the culture that forms the foundation of the breads and many of the sweet treats produced in-house. Customers can even purchase dehydrated starter to begin their own sourdough journey at home!

The menu focuses on handcrafted, small-batch baking. Alongside the original sourdough loaf, you’ll find varieties like olive sourdough and sprouted seed sourdough, packed with sesame, flax, sunflower and pumpkin seeds. There are also chewy sourdough bagels, chocolate chunk sourdough cookies, and sweet favourites like sourdough cinnamon buns and blueberry buns.

Sourdough Garden is now welcoming customers at 308 Brown’s Line in Etobicoke. The bakery is open Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Follow @sourdough_garden for updates.
