Pete Davidson has been in the process of removing all of the tattoos from his body after having a change of heart about the various ink marking he’s accumulated over the years.
However, in a new interview with Variety, the comedian revealed the reason that he’s decided to put his body through the pain.
“I used to be a drug addict and I was a sad person, and I felt ugly and that I needed to be covered up,” he told the outlet in an interview published on April 23. “And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with tattoos, but mine, when I look at them, I remember a sad person that was very unsure.”
“When I look in the mirror, I don’t want the reminder of, ‘Oh yeah, you were a f–king drug addict. Like, that’s why you have SpongeBob smoking a joint on your back,'” the Bupkis actor continued. “They should have meaning. Not just that I was high watching ‘Game of Thrones.'”
In the same interview, Davidson shared that he’s already spent $200,000 to have his tattoos removed — and he’s not even halfway done. He also said the whole process “sucks” and compared it to “putting your arm on a grill and burning off a layer.”
Davidson had tattoos covering much of his body, including his back, chest, stomach, and arms. He famously got a tattoo in honor of Kim Kardashian during their brief romance — and that was one of the first to go. According to Page Six, he was spotted at the beach in January 2023 and the tattoo — which read “My girl is a lawyer” — appeared to be gone.
Per People magazine, Davidson got two more tattoos dedicated to Kardashian — one of the initials of all her kids and another that read Aladdin [infinity sign] Jasmine. Those have also been removed.
