Plato’s Closet is opening a new location just outside Calgary and here’s when

12 January 20263 Mins Read

Canada-wide thrift retailer Plato’s Closet is one of the best places to snag some gently used clothing. With a new location opening up in Airdrie, upgrading your wardrobe just got a whole lot easier.

The leading teen and young adult thrift store is opening a brand-new storefront on Jan. 15 in Airdrie, Alta. Located at 117 Jensen Dr. NE, it’ll be a top spot to buy affordable, gently used clothing, shoes, and accessories.

The concept is geared towards teens and 20-somethings, and bringing your own clothing donation can put some cash back in your pocket.

“Bringing Plato’s Closet to the Airdrie community is both exciting and meaningful,” said Sue Griffith, owner of Plato’s Closet, in a press release. “It’s incredibly rewarding to create a welcoming space where local teens and young adults can shop affordably, explore new styles, and turn their gently used clothing into cash – helping keep items out of landfills – right here in their own neighbourhood.”

The grand opening will begin on Thursday, Jan. 15 and extend throughout the weekend, with prizes and giveaways to be won. Here’s everything we know so far.

A more sustainable way to shop

Plato’s Closet has quickly become a fast-growing, Canada-wide thrift retailer, beloved by teens and young adults who are keen to snag brand-name clothes at low price points.

It’s also a more sustainable way to shop, keeping textiles out of landfills, and offering customers cash for their well-loved clothes. No appointment is necessary to bring in your unwanted items, and customers can achieve savings of up to 70 per cent on their purchases by trading in.

The new location in Airdrie opens on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026. Plato’s Closet is part of Winmark – the Resale Company®, a national retail resale franchise that focuses on sustainability, small business formation and providing Resale for Everyone®.

A weekend of giveaways

The first 50 shoppers on the store’s opening day will receive a swag bag, and the first 25 to enter the store throughout the weekend will also go home with giveaways.

There will also be a Spin to Win wheel, free reusable bags with every purchase, and opportunities to win designer handbags and a $200 shopping spree.

It’s great news for Airdrie thrifters. If you’ve been looking for some new threads to spice up your wardrobe, don’t miss this opportunity!

When: Thursday, Jan. 15 to Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026
Time: Open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where:
117 Jensen Dr. NE, Airdrie, Alta.
Tickets: Free to attend
