Pokémon’s 2025 World Championships has kicked off in Anaheim, which means Pokémon Go’s companion event is also running from Aug. 15-17. During this event, you can score a Pikachu wearing a varsity jacket, themed around the same Pikachu you see in the key art for the World Championships.
During this event, you can complete up to five special trades per day, and run into more Pokémon encounters as you win in PvP. Some Pokémon will know or learn legacy moves when caught as well: caught Lapras will know Ice Beam, evolved Primeape and Annihilape will know Rage Fist, and evolved Clodsire will learn Megahorn.
This event is technically live with the Go Battle Weekend bonus for this season, meaning that alongside the bonuses listed below, you can also gain quadrupled Stardust from playing PvP and you can play up to 100 matches a day (up from 25 per day).
You can see all the bonuses and perks for the Pokémon Go “2025 World Championships Celebration” event below, including the paid Timed Research, Field Research, and boosted spawns.
Pokémon Go ‘2025 World Championships Celebration’ event Timed Research and reward
For $4.99, you can buy a pass that gives you access to this Timed Research, which gives you a handful of PvP-relevant Pokémon. I would only recommend buying this if you love PvP, because the item value (one single Premium Battle Pass) isn’t worth the money otherwise.
There’s also a set of Timed Research that goes alongside the Go Battle Weekend event, which we list under the premium research.
