According to a new Gallup poll, a record-high 62% of Americans feel the federal government has too much power.
Dig deeper:
Gallup says the results are the highest since they started the yearly poll in 2002, with the average result of “too much power” coming in at 53%. The previous high was 60% in former President Obama’s second term in both 2013 and 2015.
Is the government trying to do too much?
The poll also asked if the federal government is trying to do things that should be left to individuals and businesses or if the government should do more to address the country’s issues.
The results show 51% of Americans feel the government does too much, while 40% say the government needs to do more.
