Aubrey Plaza stepped out at the Cannes Film Festival this week, marking her first red carpet photo call since the death of her husband, Jeff Baena, earlier this year.

The popular actress, known for shows like Parks and Recreation and The White Lotus, was photographed in France on Friday, May 23 while attending the Cannes premiere of the upcoming new movie, Honey Don’t!

Plaza, 40, looked stunning in a semi-sheer champagne-colored gown, which featured a plunging cutout at the chest and was completely covered in hundreds of colorful crystals.

Aubrey Plaza attends the “Honey Don’t!” red carpet at the 78th annual Cannes Film Festival at Palais des Festivals on May 23, 2025 in Cannes, France.

She was photographed alongside some of her cast mates on the film including actress Margaret Qualley and actor Charlie Day. The movie’s director, Ethan Coen, was also in attendance for the red carpet photo-op.

It was the first time Plaza, 40, appeared at a red carpet film premiere since her husband died by suicide back in January at the age of 47. Baena, a successful screenwriter and director, had been married to Plaza since 2021.

At the time of his death, Plaza and the Baena/Stern family said in a statement to Parade, “This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.”

If you or someone you know is contemplating suicide or struggling with suicidal thoughts, help is available 24 hours a day through the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988.
